Released · 2018

1 quantum researcher, 2 mobile developers, 1 designer with a vision. Though initially brought on to reskin an existing game design, I aligned the team around our user - quantum beginners - and a playful goal to be the #1 game in the App Store.

In three weeks, we reinvented the game mechanics and visual interface; translating quantum concepts into a truly fun, intuitive experience that entertains quantum scientists and middle schoolers alike.

Select process

Visual direction ·

Created a visual "key" to translate quantum concepts using the simplest forms and colors, which inspired new iterations of the game interface

Co-created with a quantum theorist ·

James, a quantum researcher, often drew on my designs; using the visual language I created to teach me more about quantum principles

Arcade-inspired ·

I leveraged existing interaction patterns from popular games like pinball and Sudoku to create a familiar "gameboard" feel

User-research ·

Co-lead 31+ usability sessions with users, ranging from quantum professors to 7th graders, in order to refine the educational component of the game
